The Great Wall of China Exhibition is the first touring exhibit permitted by the government of the People's Republic of China of the treasures and technologies of the Greatest Wonder of the World.
The #1 Wonder of the World stands half a world away from North Americans -- until now. For the first time China has shared hundreds of weapons, tools, jewels, and golden treasures from the greatest construction effort of mankind - 7,000 kilometers, 2,000 years, and millions of lives in the making. But these remarkable artifacts are only supporting elements in the Great Wall Exhibition experience.
Now science museum visitors can participate themselves in mankind's greatest engineering achievement. The vastness of the Great Wall is experienced in a way never possible before.
Begin with a multi-screen overflight of its staggering dimensions. Then enter a stunning recreation of the Wall itself. Climb towers and ramparts recreated with fidelity and look over medieval China on one side, and marauding Central Asian invaders other.
Touch blocks from the Wall itself, ancient tools and weapons. Dig artifacts from an excavation of 2,000 year-old section of the Wall. Fire arrows and send smoke signals to your fellow Wall guardians. Discover how this marvel was built, brick by brick, working with traditional tools to recreate portions of the Great Wall daily. Tour the recreated 1,000 year-old home of a Great Wall worker and his family.
Choose an identity among the Ming Dynasty Wall-builders - engineer, mason, soldier, merchant, general - and discover your fate. And replicate remote-sensing technologies to search for buried sections of the Great Wall that are turning up new stretches of the Great Wall and its treasures even now.
