     Dinosaurs in Motion

In this unique, new exhibition, dinosaurs are the medium for educating and exciting multi-generational families on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) concepts. Dinosaurs in Motion educates the visitor organically, intuitively and directly by using 14 magnificent, fully interactive, anatomically correct, recycled metal dinosaurs with exposed mechanics. The exhibition captivates the visitor by drawing them into the powerful "brand" of dinosaurs, while creating a unique opportunity to teach the basic principles of STEAM in a narrative that mimics the progression of the learning process itself.

The exhibition narrative is divided into three sections that mimic the actual progression of the learning process: directed observation, experimentation, and hands on interactivity.  After initially observing the metal marionettes and watching them move from a distance, visitors are encouraged to move the dinosaur sculptures using remote control. In the final stage of the exhibition, visitors will actually physically move the dinosaurs via lever and pulley systems. Offering large-scale dinosaur interaction unprecedented in a museum setting, the visitor will observe the kinetic life-sized sculptures, then practice the physics of motion, and then actively participate in their mechanics, delivering the most unforgettable learning experience.

At the end of the exhibition, visitors will meet the artist, John Payne, who truly is the heart of this story. Through video and interactives, visitors will walk away with Payne's inspiring message: "If you can dream it, you can do it."  John's story is a compelling thread to the exhibition narrative that places Dinosaurs in Motion in a unique category among exhibitions.

These anatomically correct, hand sculpted creatures not only tell the STEAM story and the story of dinosaurs (including recent field research), but also illustrate the passion that accompanies the marriage of art and science. The exhibition's striking sculptures and scenic elements seamlessly draw visitors into the environment and teach important scientific principles in several fields, including natural history and science.
